BICHOLIM: Property worth Rs 2 lakh was destroyed in a major fire reported at a hardware shop in Bicholim town.
According fire department officials, the incident occurred at around 3 pm. Fire engulfed the shop belonging to one Sandhya Kanolkar located on the ground floor of Deendayal Bhavan at Bicholim. Items such as weighing machine, electrical fixtures and fittings, pumps, pipes, paints and other material were gutted. The fire fighters rushed to the spot and doused the fire after two hours. Fire fighters Rajan Parab, Uday Mandrekar, Jitendra Bhandari, Richard Trindade, Sandesh Pednekar and Anikesh Naik managed to save the building and the property worth Rs 1 crore.
