Bicholim man held for molesting minor girl

BICHOLIM, JULY 30
Bicholim police on Wednesday arrested a 22-year-old man from Vathadev-Bicholim in connection with the molestation of a minor girl.
According to Bicholim Police, one Jainur Shafikul Khan was arrested on Wednesday night and was remanded to police custody.
According to reports, the eight-year-old victim had gone to answer nature’s call at about 10.30 am in the bushes near her house. Khan, who was her neighbour, seized the opportunity and went after her.
He allegedly kissed the girl and also fondled with her private parts. Later, the accused gave her a 10 rupee note to buy some chocolate and asked her not to disclose about the incident to anyone.
However, after the girl went home, she narrated the incident to her mother, who was startled to hear about the incident.
The victim’s mother waited for her husband to return back in the evening and later registered a case with Bicholim police.
“We immediately arrested the accused and remanded him to police custody. We have registered a molestation case after going through the medical report,” said PSI Ditendra Naik.
Bicholim Police have registered a case under Section 354 IPC and Section 8 of Children’s Act.
Bicholim PSI Ditendra Naik is investigating the case under the supervision of PI Harish Madkaikar.
