In a remarkable breakthrough, the Bicholim Police Station successfully apprehended Faizan Sayyad, the notorious 24-year-old prime suspect in a series of gold mangalsutra snatching cases that have plagued various parts of Goa. The arrest took place on August 1, 2023, in Navelim-Surla, while Faizan was attempting to commit another heinous act with his accomplice.
Faizan’s criminal activities came to light when he was caught red-handed during a chain-snatching attempt. His partner-in-crime managed to escape, but Faizan was arrested, bringing an end to their crime spree that had left residents of Goa terrified.
Upon interrogation, Faizan admitted to his involvement in a similar incident on July 27, 2023, in Mulgao Bicholim, where they targeted an elderly woman and snatched a gold mangalsutra weighing approximately 1.400 grams. The daring duo had previously targeted victims in Pernem, Panjim, Madel, Mapusa, Porvorim, and other locations across Goa.
The police are now diligently pursuing leads to apprehend Faizan’s absconding associate, recover the stolen gold mangalsutra, and locate the motorcycle used during the crimes. This significant breakthrough has given hope to the victims and their families, as they eagerly await justice to be served.
