PANJIM: Reacting to the rape case of a minor from Bicholim, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, who is also the Home Minister, said the police are treating this case with utmost urgency and that the accused will be dealt with a stern hand. “We will not tolerate such a gruesome act. I am personally monitoring the case,” said Sawant, while speaking to media persons on Monday. He added that the police had already arrested one of the accused on the same day and that the FIR had been registered, indicating how swiftly they had responded to the case.
He further added that all of the accused persons, who had been named by the victim, will be arrested soon.
“We are consulting with the NGOs, the victim and others concerned,” said Sawant, while further adding that schools and other institutions should remain alert at all times.
