Bicholim resident arrested for assaulting cops

BICHOLIM: Bicholim police has arrested Santosh Yeshwant Kudchirkar (55) from Kanolkarwada, Nanora, Bicholim for abusing and assaulting Bicholim Traffic Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) Putulo Gad and Constable Ujwal Halarnkar while they were performing their duty on Sunday.
Complaint in this regard has been lodged by Bicholim Traffic Police Inspector (PI) Vijay Rane at Bicholim police station, in which, he has stated that the suspect abused and assaulted the PSI and a constable, when they stopped him while he was proceeding from Bicholim to Nanora on his motorbike bearing registration number GA-04-K-7896 without wearing a helmet. The complaint stated that the police  asked for his documents, to which Kudchirkar became furious and started abusing the police in a filthy language. Suspecting that Kudchirkar is under the influence of alcohol, the police conducted an alcometer test and found him to be heavily drunk. They later told him to go away and bring his vehicles documents and come along with a license-holder rider to take his motorbike at home. Kudchirkar started abusing them again. After sometime he came with documents but instead of showing documents he again started abusing PSI Gad. The verbal arguments led to manhandling of the officers by the Kudchirkar. He snatched the officer’s clothes and batch, broke the name plate and gave a blow on his chest. Later he took a big stone to hit the PSI’s head. However, police constable Halarnkar and one more person present prohibited him from doing so.
