Bicholim resident booked for abetting suicide of wife

Bicholim Police on Thursday registered a case against a man from Kudchirem-Bicholim on charges of abetting his 30-year-old wife to commit suicide.
It may be recalled that one Nikita Naresh Gaonkar from Kudchirem had committed suicide by setting herself ablaze at her residence on July 5.
According to Bicholim Police, Nikita’s husband used to frequently abuse her. On the fateful day, Nikita’s husband started abusing her physically and she allegedly poured kerosene and set herself ablaze, as she could no longer bear her husband’s abuse.
Nikita was married some four years ago and has a one-and-half-year old son.
Deputy Collector Narayan Gaad was conducting the investigation and on Thursday, after receiving report from the Deputy Collector, Bicholim Police registered a case against Nikita’s husband under Section 306 IPC. Bicholim PI Harish Madkaikar is investigating the case.
