VASCO: The Central Industrial Security Force at Goa Airport on Monday nabbed a Bicholim resident with hashish (psychotropic drugs) worth Rs 17.59 lakh.
The CISF at about 2.16 pm during pre-embarkation security check detained Sharif Pandu Shaikh for possessing 3.518 kg Hashish (psychotropic drugs) worth Rs 17.59 lakh.
While scanning the passenger’s luggage through the X-BIS scanning machine at the airport, the Sub Inspector Chandra Bhushan of CISF at security hold area of Goa airport noticed the image of a suspicious material inside the bag and the passenger was asked to open the same. On opening the bag, multiple packets of black colour material wrapped in plastic and carbon paper weighing around 3.518 kg concealed in a false bottom of bag were found. When the said black material was checked through the drug detection kit, it was found to be hashish.
The matter was immediately informed to senior CISF and NCB officers. Shaikh, who was to travel from Goa to Doha by Qatar Airways flight QR 523, was handed over to the NCB for further inquiry.
