MAPUSA: The Congress workers and youth held a bicycle rally in Bardez Taluka to protest the fuel price hike and demanded a rollback.
During the rally, the Congress workers shouted slogans demanding to reduce the fuel price by placing placards on the bicycles, which read “Roll back Petrol and Diesel prices”.
Former MLA Agnelo Fernandes hit out at the BJP government saying this government is working for the capitalists and not for common man.
“BJP used star campaigners for the elections, who also promised that BJP will lessen the rates of fuel. Now they have cheated the public by hiking the price,” Fernandes alleged.
The former Calangute MLA further said, ”The government is imposing taxes, but that money is not coming to the farmers or the needy people. We don’t know where the money is going.”
“On an apparent jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee General Secretary Amarnath Panjikar said that “Ab ke Baar diesel-petrol-100 ke paar”, “Ab ke baar, Goenkarallya bolsantale poishe jaale kaabar, isliye cycle par sawar” (pockets of the Goans have become empty and hence we are riding bicycles).
