PANJIM: The on-line bidding process for beach cleaning tenders received a good response with 11 agencies bidding for the combined mechanical and manual cleaning task in South Goa and eight agencies bidding for the North Goa contract.
A pre-bid conference was held Friday and the department of tourism has started the process intending to complete by mid-September.
A department official said that the agencies who have shown interest in the beach cleaning tenders through the on-line process were Friday categorically informed that in case of mechanical cleaning, only machinery certified for beach cleaning and that which does not destroy the flora and marine life will be permitted.
Officials say that while more interest has been shown for beach cleaning manually, combined beach cleaning has also been bid for.
The tourism department is also expected to float tenders for beach safety and water patrol services next week and hopes to complete the same by September end.
SHACK POLICY: Meanwhile, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar and tourism department officials met Friday to deliberate on the Shack Policy.
A meeting with coastal MLAs is scheduled next week after which the policy will be placed before the cabinet
PWD BIDS: The on-line bidding process for appointing a consultant for the new Khandepar bridge concluded Friday with two agencies expressing interest.
The on-line bidding process for consultancy for the Zuari bridge will conclude next week.
