Govt depts, corporations to come under CCTV surveillance; Aimed at reducing corruption, ensuring smooth functioning

PANJIM: Government departments and corporations are set to come under CCTV surveillance in a bid to bring about the required transparency and strengthen IT infrastructure. 
Info Tech Corporation of Goa Ltd (ITG) has invited tenders for the supply, installation and commissioning of CCTV surveillance cameras (all types) and LAN & UPS connectivity in various government departments and institutions in the State. The last date for submitting the bid is November 16. 
Though the Corporation, in its tender document, claims that the objective is to strengthen and maintain IT infrastructure, sources said that the move is also aimed at keeping a watch on government offices to reduce corruption, to ensure smooth functioning and strengthen public grievance system. 
The Corporation said that the various government departments and organisations have set up such IT Infrastructure for use of e-governance application.
“In order to get efficient management of IT infrastructure existing in their offices, a number of requests are received from these departments and organisations. Maintenance of this IT infrastructure is absolutely necessary. It is therefore felt that ITG proposes to address the concerns for management of IT infrastructure,” the tender document stated.
Keeping in mind the local service setup and accessibility required extending support and maintenance services during the annual maintenance contract period, ITG is looking for a bidder with a strong local presence.
