Biggest spike takes COVID tally to 5119

PANJIM: Goa recorded its biggest 24-hour spike in COVID-19 cases on Monday as fear of the virus continues to grip citizens in the State. On Monday 258 persons tested positive, taking the active cases to 1673.

A 58-year-old man from New Vaddem, Vasco succumbed to the infection on Monday, taking the toll to 36.

The health bulletin on the COVID-19 status in Goa indicates that the confirmed cases have shot up to 5119 while the number of recoveries have shown an impressive result as the number records at 3410. The single-day recovery on Monday was 133. 

Vasco and Cortalim health centres continue to record an increasing number of cases with 363 and 369 active cases respectively. Margao urban health centre (UHC) also has cases in three digits – 116. Panjim UHC has 53 cases, whereas Ponda primary health centre has reported 78 cases and Sankhalim community health centre has 73 positive cases
