A
man from Bihar, residing in Haryana, was apprehended by a night patrol team of
Daraganj police on the banks of Sangam in Prayagraj under suspicious
circumstances. The police discovered a woman’s body packed in a suitcase he was
carrying. The man, identified as Himanshu, confessed to strangling his mother,
Pratima Devi, 43, following a dispute over money. He demanded ₹5,000 from her,
and when she refused, he killed her in a fit of rage.
After
committing the crime on December 13, Himanshu packed his mother’s body in a
suitcase, traveled to Ghaziabad and then to Prayagraj. On Thursday night, he
attempted to dispose of the body in the Sangam but was hindered by darkness.
The Daraganj police, upon questioning Himanshu, uncovered the gruesome details.
An FIR has been registered, and the body is sent for autopsy. Authorities have
informed Himanshu’s father and sister, who reside in Bihar, about the incident.
Himanshu is now in custody, facing charges related to the murder of his mother.
