PANJIM: Yuvraj Singh would any day have been happier riding on a plane to Australia and pulling and driving fast bowlers from Pakistan, South Africa and other teams, for team India. Back to back domestic hundreds before the World Cup team was selected had brought him in the reckoning, but he missed that bus.
He remained IPLs’ favorite child though, with a 16 crore deal with Delhi Daredevils. And not that he needs more avenues to spend, but a part of that whopping amount could well go into his latest passion, something he now shares with his former captain- Mahi Dhoni- bikes.
Riding on his new hobby, Yuvi came to Goa for on the concluding day of India Bike Week 2015. He has teamed up with Pune-based Autologue Design – a car and motorcycle customization company that has designed a KTM Duke 390, especially for the ace cricketer. The bike will later be auctioned to raise funds for YouWeCan – an initiative of the Yuvraj Singh Foundation (YSF) that works towards creating consciousness on cancer prevention, early detection and fight against stigma. Yuvraj was at IBW to launch the bike and raise awareness about this initiative.
Post the bike launch, Yuvraj Singh and Mukul Nanda engaged in a Q and A session with mediapersons at the IBW venue on the condition that the questions be strictly regarding the bike launch. Mediapersons were asked not to ask any questions regarding his cricketing career, World Cup or IPL. Commenting on his participation at the India Bike Week 2015, Yuvraj Singh confessed his affinity towards cars more than bikes. He said, “Autologue and I had been working on this bike for the past six months. I have contributed with a lot of creative inputs in the designing of this bike that has added a lot of my character to it.” Mukul Nanda of Autologue Design said, “The event is the biggest platform for all the bikers in the country and is organized on a massive scale with professional bikers participating in it from across India and even abroad. Thus, the company chose India Bike Week as a great launch platform.”
Yuvi though will hope to ride on a bit of luck too, to get back to team India.
