MARGAO: Goa will have a clinic within six months to practice Advanced Postural Biomechanical Correction, announced Dr Ashish Khandelwal of the Spine Action Clinic at the end of course on the therapy conducted by its founder Dr Robbie Goodrum.
Dr Robbie has combined osteopathy, chiropractic and physiotherapy to come up with Advanced Postural Biomechanical Correction (APBC) which basically treats the twists and bends in bones and muscles due to changing lifestyle.
While pointing out that the treatment is recognized in 164 countries worldwide not including India, he said it negates the often recommended surgery to treat some ailments. “Surgery should be the last resort and my treatment has cured many people who otherwise would have gone for surgery,” Dr Robbie said.
He said the duration of treatment can vary from 15 minutes to one hour and one or more sittings.
depending upon the kind of problem the patient is having. He said the changing lifestyle that has become more sedentary with people sitting for most of the work has caused new problems which the earlier medicine cannot cure.
“Earlier we did not have smart phones nor laptops on which most people work today and the posture adopted while using these gadgets affect our bones and muscles which need to be treated and twisted back in shape,” he said.
Having undergone training under Dr Robbie members of the Spine Action are offering treatment at Delhi, Calcutta, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. Spondolysis, back pains and even asthma can be treated by this system said Dr Ashish who announced plans to set up a clinic in Goa within the next six months.
