A day after the High Court rejected his anticipatory bail plea, Roshan Redkar, the disqualified Sarpanch of the Village Panchayat of Arpora–Nagoa, surrendered before the court in connection with the Birch fire case.
Redkar appeared before the court on Wednesday, following the High Court’s refusal to grant him protection from arrest. The case pertains to a fire incident at Birch, which is currently under investigation by the authorities.
Sources said the surrender came soon after the court’s order, signalling the next phase of legal proceedings in the matter. Redkar had earlier sought anticipatory bail citing apprehension of arrest, but the High Court dismissed his application.
With his surrender, the investigating agency is expected to seek appropriate custody for further questioning as part of the ongoing probe. Further details regarding the case and the role attributed to the accused are awaited.
