Birch Tragedy: 52 More Respondents Added in Goa High Court PIL

The High Court of Bombay at Goa on Monday allowed the state government’s request to add 52 additional individuals and authorities as respondents in the suo motu PIL concerning the Birch fire incident. The approved list includes Gaurav Luthra and Saurabh Luthra, among others, with notices issued to all new respondents, returnable on February 3. The court also ordered that a writ petition filed by Pradeep Ghadi Amonkar be separated from the suo motu proceedings, and that a separate PIL filed by an activist be heard independently. Clarifying its stance, the court emphasized that the suo motu PIL will remain “pure and clean,” restricting proceedings strictly to issues arising from its own intervention.
