Bird-hit AI flight leaves Dabolim

VASCO: The Air India flight AI-866, which encountered a bird hit and a tyre burst on Tuesday, finally left Dabolim airport on Wednesday morning.

When contacted, Airport Director K Srinivasa Rao told Herald that the Air India technical staff completed repairs on the stricken aircraft and after obtaining safety clearance the plane left the Dabolim airport at 7.52 am on Wednesday.
When asked if he had inspected the garbage site inside the naval area and the airport on the Western side, Rao said: “We did inspect the area, but we did not find any garbage there (inside in the naval area). However, we noticed some garbage while inspecting the surrounding area outside the airport and we have urged the panchayats concerned to clear the area to avoid further such mishaps.”
