BICHOLIM: A resident of Bordem Bicholim has complained that a herd of bison have damaged his crops and vegetable plantation causing a loss of around Rs 80,000.
According to Tukaram Shanu Mandrekar, he informed the Forest Department about a herd of bison entering his field and the officials had driven away the bison using fire crackers. But the next day, the same herd once again entered his field and destroyed the same. Mandrekar has now demanded that the Agriculture Department provide him with compensation.
It is pertinent to note that this is not the only case as even wild boars and other wild animals have damaged the crops causing huge losses to farmers.
