VALPOI: A bison died while crossing the river at Mauxi Village on Sunday late night.
The villagers saw the bison carcass floating in the river on Monday evening and immediately informed the Valpoi Forest Department.
The officials from the Forest Department along with the Veterinary Department visited the spot and conducted a post mortem.
After the post mortem, the Forest Department buried the carcass.
“Due to the heavy rainfall past few days, the river is over flowing. The bison must have drowned while crossing the river,” said a villager Devidas Gaonkar.
