PANJIM: With the aim of providing intense training on teaching mathematics at undergraduate level for college and university faculty, a two-day workshop on ‘Teaching Strategies in Mathematics’ was held at Birla Institute of Technology and Science Pilani, K K Birla Goa Campus recently.
The event was designed to bring college mathematics teachers in the State on a single platform and share information on teaching strategies needed for effective learning process in mathematics.
Speaking at the training, BITS Director Prof Raghurama G said, “With the learning, there is a strong need of unlearning, relearning how to teach the new generation students in this highly technological world. Teachers in this liquid society must be ‘a meddler in the middle’ and the process of teaching is mutual learning for both teachers and students. We should move from the attitude of ‘I do, you do’ to an effective and inclusive approach of ‘we do’.”
Prof Nagaraj, IMSc Chennai, Prof Veerappa Gowda, TIFR Bengaluru, Prof V D Sharma IIT Bombay, Prof Arumugam, BITS Goa and Dr Aravind, Wolfrm Research, trained the participants.
