CANACONA, AUG 5
What should have been a festival to celebrate the bond between a brother and his sister turned out to be an unexpected blow, when rakhis tied to all the students were cut off by the head of a school in Canacona.
According to reliable sources, the head of a prominent school in Canacona taluka did not endorse the practice of Raksha Bandhan in the school on Wednesday and went to the extent of cutting off the rakhis tied to the students.
While teachers and other school faculty did not object to this unusual move, many silently protested against the decision of the school head. A number of parents were also aggrieved when they were informed of the incident after school hours.
Angered by this act, some religious groups have decided to protest against the incident on Thursday.
It was also reportedly learnt that last year also this particular school and another high school in the taluka committed a similar act.
