BJP almost clean sweeps ZP polls in Goa

Ruling party wins 32 out of 49 seats, Cong routed getting 4 seats less thsn Independents, AAP opens its account

Panjim:  Bucking what appeared to be a state wide anti-incumbency sentiment the BJP made a virtual sweep of the ZP elections winning 32 out of 49 seats. The Congress misearably failed getting just 4 seats, less thsn even the independents who secured 7 seats. Significantly the AAP opened its account in electoral politics in Goa winning the Benaulim seat. So did the NCP.

The crisis ridden MGP was also humbked winning just  3 seats.

“I humbly bow down before the people of Goa for the trust they have reposed onto the Bharatiya Janata Party as well as the Govt of Goa working under my leadership. Let us shape a glorious and Swayampurna (Self Reliant) Goa by taking ahead the same trust and confidence,” Chief Minister Pramod Sawant tweeted

BJP state president Sadanand Shet Tanavade sawvthis as sn indicator of the 2022 Assembly results. “The result also reveals what would be the result of 2022 Goa Legislative Assembly election. We will form the government with absolute majority in the state,” he said.
