PANJIM: The ‘irresponsible’ statement by Congress’ Goa desk in-charge and AICC secretary A Chellakumar on Pulwama terror attack appears to have snowballed into a major controversy with the BJP terming the comments ‘dirty politics’.
Soon after Chellakumar’s statement, BJP national spokesperson Nupur Sharma called the comments ‘unfortunate and dirty politics’.
“Very unfortunate that in spite of JeM claiming responsibility for the dastardly and bloody attack on the brave soldiers martyred in Pulwama, Congress (Goa) in-charge Chellakumar comes out and plays very dirty politics over dead bodies,” Sharma said in Panjim.
She questioned whether the Congress now wants proof of the soldiers’ martyrdom. “Why is Congress singing Pakistani tune? Earlier, they asked for surgical strikes proof, today they doubt Pulwama. It is extremely unfortunate, highly insensitive and may I also add that a very low level discourse of politics, wherein an Indian political party is singing Pakistani tune, which is again and again exposing its face,” she said.
Sharma pointed out that the Congress national president Rahul Gandhi told media that they were not going to politicise the ongoing situation.
“However, his standing is not proportionate to the statements of other leaders. Few days back Congress spokesperson Surjewala termed Pulwama attack by “home grown so called terrorist”. Today’s statement goes one step ahead,” she said.
She questioned whether Congress is a party to give clean chit certificates to terrorists. “We all know how the Congress leaders hug the Pakistani army chief, wherein they name call our Army chief. Our Army chief was also called a sadak ka goonda by a Congress leader,” she said.
BJP State president Vinay Tendulkar demanded that Rahul Gandhi immediately sack Chellakumar from the working committee as State in-charge of Congress.
