Panjim: A day after a photocopy of a letter allegedly from the BJP Panjim Mandal went viral on the social media, the mandal President Dipak Mhapsekar has filed a complaint at the Panjim police station against those who “created” the letter.
In his complaint, Mhapsekar stated, “I wish to bring to your notice that the said note has been created on a forged letterhead of our Bharatiya Janata Party, Panaji Mandal with an intention to misuse my name and tarnish my reputation and position. This amounts to a gross violation of my rights and should be dealt with most strictly.”
Stating that the letter had misused his name and the party’s letterhead to create an impression that he is aware of the letter, Mhapsekar rejected the claims made in the letter that went viral. “I request that the strictest of action and appropriate punishment be meted out to the perpetrators of this note on an immediate basis,” he added.
The allegedly fake letter addressed to the ‘karyakartas and the voters of Panjim constituency’ opposed the ‘dynasty’ and ‘family raj’ in Panjim. The letter had stated “The people of Panaji will not accept dynasty and family raj in Panaji and only dedicated party loyalist should be given ticket, for which all the workers are hereby called upon to attend a meeting of the party workers on April 8, 2019 at 8 pm to decide our candidate.”
The letter had a photo of Siddharth Kunkalienkar and further describing his “supreme sacrifice” of resigning as an MLA in 2017 to pave way for late Manohar Parrikar.
BJP Panjim Mandal as well as Siddharth had outright rejected the letter and claimed it to be fake.
