BJP concealing failures: Saiyed

PANJIM: All India Congress Committee (AICC) minority cell in charge, Khurshid Ahmad Saiyed rebuked the BJP-led coalition government in Goa, for its minister’s recent controversial remark, asking people not to send their children to convent schools, saying the controversial statements were intentionally made pertaining to religion and lifestyle, in a bid to conceal its own failures.

Saiyed told media on Wednesday morning, “The BJP and its allies are making controversial statements like the recent one, where its cabinet minister appealed to the people not to send their children to convent schools. This is nothing but a bid to remain alive in public. They are deliberately discussing non-issues and trying to hide their governance failure.”
The central Congress functionary went on to add, “People across the country and society, including those belonging to right-wing organizations and those in public life, have studied or their children are studying in convent schools. This is a picture all across the country.”
Saiyed questioned why there is an increase in the number of heinous crime, such as rape, in states such as Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, where there are no missionary schools?
Cabinet Minister Pandurang (Deepak) Dhavalikar and his wife Lata, had appealed to people not to enroll their kids in convent school, as it encourages western culture provoking rape.
The Congress leader also said that government’s failure to resolve the issue of beef ban indicates that government is targeting minorities and polarizing Hindu votes. Saiyed also pointed out the government’s failure to resolve various issues affecting the common man, including mining closure and unemployment in Goa.
