PANJIM: Goa BJP Yuva Morcha has condemned the public slaughter of a cow organised as part of an Indian Youth Congress protest in Kannur-Kerala, and termed the act as ‘barbaric’.
Addressing media persons, BJP youth wing member Sidharath Kuncolienker took a dig at the Congress, claiming that the “party’s rejection and failure across the country” triggered the act.
“The act was barbaric and cruel to animals. We strongly condemn it and want the Congress high command to take responsibility, as whatever happened was with the support of the party leadership,” he said.
“This is nothing but frustration of Congress workers. They are not able to digest the rejection by people across all states,” Kuncolienker stated.
The incident happened on Saturday, as the state saw protests and beef festivals organised by various groups opposing the restrictions on sale of cows for slaughter imposed by the Union government.
The video of the cow slaughter and beef festival has been shared on social media.
Justifying the Union government’s decision, Kuncolienker said it is trying to regulate activities related to trade and it needs to be supported. “Everyone has to follow the rule,” he said.
