PANJIM: The Aam Admi Party (AAP) has slammed BJP for depriving the residents of Panjim city with basic amenities despite ruling the constituency for 25 years. The party has also accused the BJP and Congress candidates for not being interested in fighting for the seat but instead are fighting over the real estate of the capital city.
“Even after BJP has been in power for so long, the people of Panjim are still suffering from basic issues like garbage, traffic, water supply, parking, footpaths, flooding etc. The fight between Sidharth Kuncalienker (BJP candidate) and Babush (Congress’ candidate Atanasio Monserrate) is not over the issues of Panjim but over its real estate,” said Valmiki Naik, AAP’s candidate for the Panjim seat.
Naik was addressing a press conference on Tuesday, where he further alleged that the redevelopmen of Panjim, without solving the basic issues and upgrading the basic infrastructure, will create chaos and render the city unlivable in just a few years.
The AAP leader also expressed shock at Chief Minister Pramod Sawant’s remark that jobs are not a priority for Panjim and that they are only focusing on development of Panjim.
“I challenge Sidharth to agree publicly with his Chief Minister that jobs for Panjim youth are not a priority for him. CM’s statement is an admission by the BJP of its complete failure despite ruling over the city for 25 years and the State for 12 years,” he added.
