BJP, Cong in war of words over terror outfit

MARGAO: Bharatiya Janata Party minority cell President Sheikh Jinnah has demanded an apology from All India Congress Committee minority cell in-charge Khurshid Ahmed Saiyed for claiming that the Indian Mujahideen (IM) cannot be termed as a terror outfit. Addressing a press conference in the town, Jinnah said that in 2002, the United Progressive Alliance government declared that Indian Mujahideen is a terror outfit.

“Congress is creating terrorists in India, in the past in Goa, many of the terrorist have been caught from the area where the State minority chief of Congress hails from,” Jinnah alleged.
Jinnah said that Indian Mujahideen is a terrorist outfit, while rubbishing the claim of Saiyed. He also said that in 2010 the organisation was declared as a terrorist organisation and was banned by the same Congress government in India.
While rubbishing all the claims made by Saiyed, Jinnah said that he (Saiyed) is not aware of what the BJP is doing in Goa as well as at the Centre. In Goa, people are very happy with the BJP including minorities, all promises of election will be fulfilled before the end of this tenure, Jinnah claimed.
While defending the BJP against the accusation of Saiyed that BJP is doing injustice towards minorities, he said that even the Kashmir area dominated by the Muslims is now being governed by the BJP.
“I demand an apology from Khurshid Ahmed Saiyed for making false statements to the media against BJP and claiming that Indian Mujahideen is not a terror outfit,” Jinnah said.
Jinnah added that in Goa, when Congress government was in power for 25 years they were giving Rs 4 lakh as assistance for the Hajj committee for the pilgrimage, but now it is hiked to Rs 20 lakh by the BJP government in Goa. “It is the BJP government which has given the 150 sq mtrs of office space in Margao old collectorate which has helped the minorities a lot, and it was not done by Congress for past so many years despite demands,” Jinnah said.
