ALDONA: The campaign of TMC’s Aldona Candidate and state party president Kiran Kandolkar is in full swing through the bylanes of the villages that constitute Aldona Constituency. Kandolkar faces off against Adv Carlos Alvares Ferreira of the Congress and sitting MLA Nilkanth Harlankar of the BJP, among others, at the February 14, Goa Assembly Elections.
Speaking on Herald TV’s “Campaign Trail-Tivim” Kiran Kandolkar spoke about the progress of his campaign and his politics
Kandolkar, who left the BJP and the Goa Forward party before joining the TMC charged that in BJP, there is a ‘remote control,’ who works behind the curtains. “We are told to talk about what they want. They want us to be puppets. They see Bhandari leaders in a different perspective, even if they give tickets to them. In BJP those who work behind the curtains, don’t want us (bhandaris) to move forward,” he confessed.
While sitting in a voter’s house, on his campaign trail, Kiran Kandolkar said he was born in Aldona and then his family moved to Tivim. This is a homecoming, he asserted. “Moira and Nachinola were part of Tivim Constituency. They were cut off due to delimitation, in 2009, he recounted.
Asked about his plans and vision for Aldona, TMC Candidate Kiran Kandolkar said till today Aldona does not have proper roads, power supply, and water. “These are rights of the people. People’s development has not happened even after 10 years of the present MLA’s tenure,” he said.
Kiran Kandolkar outlined that there are many plans on his drawing board. The first is to develop Corjuem Fort into a tourist spot and develop an economic center around it so that locals can earn a livelihood. He also flagged the construction of a new market complex for Aldona within 2 years, by talking with the Church and Confraria who owns the land, since the vendors live in fear, that the old market slab may collapse at any time.
Kandolkar has plans for a bypass road from Galvar to Salvadore do Mundo(Saloi) in his manifesto, which will ease the traffic which comes via Calvim bridge and goes to Britona. Properties along the way will be developed and people can earn a living, he claimed.
On his drawing board, there are plans for a bridge from Moira to Tivim, to connect Aldona to Tivim and in particular the Tivim Railway Station.
