BJP has fielded RGP to split Goan votes: GFP

PANJIM: Goa Forward Party (GFP) President and Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai has alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has brought Revolutionary Goan Party (RGP) to split non-BJP votes so that its candidate wins.

Speaking at an election rally in support of Congress candidate Capt Viriato Fernandes at Nuvem, Sardesai said, “This election is to protect the country and the constitution. We (INDIA Bloc) have given a candidate who will fight for the common man. The opposition’s candidate will be out of reach of the common man. But to make sure that the candidate wins the BJP has fielded the Revolutionary Goan Party which hopes to split Goan votes. Goemkars will unite to expose the wolves in sheep’s clothing doing the bidding of BJP in the State. No self-respecting Goemkar will allow it  and help anti-Goan BJP win.”

Sardesai said, “This election is about the future of democracy, the sanctity of our Constitution, and defending our diversity. We mustunite as one behind INDIA Bloc candidate Capt Viriato Fernandes to ensure that the idea of INDIA survives.”

The GFP president alleged that BJP does not speak on coal issues or onthe issue of river Mhadei.

“Many countries have implemented visa on arrival policy but in our country there is no free visa on arrival for visitors. Government has imposed 28 per cent GST but what does it offer you in return. People of Vasco are forced to inhale air filled with coal dust. This government is only to harass the people, and not for development,” Sardesai said, appealing to the people to vote and elect Capt Viriato.
