MARGAO: BJP-backed candidates from Margao and Fatorda have taken a bad beating from the reservation of wards. The BJP leaders say that the reservation won’t affect their prospects as it’s a party with cadre. Many of the BJP-backed candidates of the previous process have prepared to put up a fight by fielding alternate candidates.
The General Secretary of BJP Damu Naik said that the BJP will go ahead with the reservation and their party is ready to fight as they have a strong cadre. “It is a worry for the parties who approached the court with the reservation,” Damu said. He also said that the people will teach them a lesson as the biggest court is that of people.
Damu referring to the Goa Forward Party said that they have removed their own sitting councillors.
Rupesh Mahatme, president of Margao BJP mandal said that injustice has indeed happened against some due to the reservation. “I will go to the court of people and will win the ward with the present reservation for OBC” said Rupesh.
