BJP keen only on publicity as COVID crisis deepens: GPCC

PANJIM: Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Girish Chodankar has criticised the BJP Central and State government for being keener on publicity and self-promotion at a time of the COVID crisis.

“I am feeling lost to hear the cries of people who now call us asking for help with regards to treatment to their relatives who have tested positive for COVID. The situation is horrific in the hospitals in Goa, with the medical fraternity completely exhausted and the Government clueless in deciding about future course of action,” said Chodankar.

He reiterated that the BJP Governments at the Centre and the State have completely failed to provide assistance and relief to the common people.

“The most irresponsible publicity hungry Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s stupid acts have pushed the nation into Covid death trap. His ‘Diya Jalav’ event has now culminated into ‘Burning of Pyres’ all across the nation with innocent people dying of lack of medical oxygen and medicines,” said Chodankar.

He referred to the number of disturbing images circulating on various media platforms of hundreds of pyres burning of those who succumbed to COVID.

He also said it is unfortunate that at a time when people are being made to run from pillar to post begging for oxygen, medicines, etc, to keep their near and dear ones alive, BJP is still in celebration-mode organising “Tika Utsavs” with posters displaying photos of the PM, Home Minister and BJP functionaries.
