PANJIM: The Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) State unit General Secretary Hemant Golatkar was booked by Goa police for assaulting, abusing and threatening a field surveyor of the Flying Squad of Tiswadi.
Old Goa Police informed that following the complaint from the field surveyor, the offence was registered against Golatkar.
Information revealed by police as per complaint is that a call was received by Flying Squad, Tiswadi, complaining illegal excavation and land filling at Kadamba Plateau. Upon receiving the complaint, the flying squad team was sent to the site at Kadamba Plateau where illegal excavation, land filling and hill cutting was going on. The squad was under the supervision of Sheru Shirodkar.
Upon arrival of the flying squad team and while inspection, the accused Golatkar entered the site, assaulted, abused and threatened a field surveyor of Flying Squad-Tiswadi and started abusing the flying squad staff that also includes police staff.
Sources from the flying squad said that BJP’s Hemant Golatkar started abusing the flying squad team and also threatened of consequences stating that he has got oral instructions from the Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar for hill cutting.
However, following the complaint, the Old Goa police have registered an offence against Golatkar under Section 363, 504 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Also during inspection, the police have successfully seized six trucks and one JCB from the site where the illegal hill cutting, land filling and excavation was going on.
Meanwhile, it can also be noted that an offence under Town and Country Planning (TCP) Act will be registered in addition to the above sections for hill cutting, a senior police officer said.
