PANJIM:
Even as North Goa MP Shripad Naik kept away from Janasampark Abhiyan (JA), which ended in Mapusa Monday night, senior BJP leader Venkaiah Naidu claimed that all’s well in the Bharatiya Janata Party. The central election committee of the BJP would decide on the issue of North Goa MP Shripad Naik when questioned on his entry or otherwise into state politics, at a press conference on Tuesday here.
Naik, who is very upset with the party for denying him a ticket to contest assembly poll, was absent from the State and most importantly from the Janasampark Abhiyan, which is led by Parrikar. However, Naidu claimed there’s no tussle within the party.
Naik had petitioned Central leaders after proposal of the State unit to allow him to contest at assembly election, was rejected by the Bharatiya Janata Party’s central committee.
Naidu though reiterated that North Goa MP is their leader, he declined to comment why the senior leader was not allowed to contest from Porvorim. “It is internal party matter, and I wouldn’t like to comment on it.” said Naidu while dodging the question. Everything would be cleared when party declares its candidates, he added.
The BJP central election committee is meeting on February 3 to finalize the candidates.
