BJP leaders leave for Delhi

PANJIM: State BJP leaders led by Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar on Tuesday left for Delhi to submit a detailed report about the party’s membership drive that has crossed four lakh, BJP Vice President Dr Wilfred Mesquita said. They are likely to meet Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar while in the national capital.

Though the party spokesman denied that the Delhi trip is to do anything with the BJP-MGP alliance for the ZP polls, sources said the issue could be discussed with party higher ups.
“The alliance will definitely take place though we may not concede 19 seats (to MGP), but it will certainly be on. However, the leaders are in Delhi to submit the details of the membership drive. It has nothing to do with the BJP-MGP alliance,” Mesquita said.
The senior BJP leaders also said that BJP leaders from all the States are in Delhi for the same purpose, meeting of which has been scheduled for Wednesday.
Meanwhile, with the ongoing Parliament session, Parrikar is not expected to come to Goa till mid-March.
