MARGAO: BJP made the most of Christmas day in both North and South Goa. In Margao, South Goa MP Narendra Sawaikar led Swacch Bharat Nitol Goem campaign by cleaning the streets of Margao along with other BJP workers, while in the North the onus was on MP Shripad Naik and Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar to follow suit.
In Margao, Sawaikar asserted that Goa and the country can become clean and free from litter only if every citizen shoulders the responsibility of ensuring cleanliness of their surroundings.
Participating in the Swacch Bharat Nitol Goem campaing at the Margao flyover and Cine Lata, Sawaikar hailed former Prime Minister Atal Behari vajpayee as a Statesman and a great leader and exhorted party workers, supporters and citizens to ensure cleanliness and to achieve the dream of Swach Bharat envisaged by Prime Minster Narendra Modi.
The cleanliness drive at Cine Lata and Margao flyover was organised to mark the birthday of Atal Behari Vajpayee. South Goa BJP general secretary Rupesh Mahatme, president of Margao BJP unit, Chandan Naik, Abhishek Kakodkar, President Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha Margao, Sheela Kakodkar, President Bharatiya Janata mahila Morcha participated in the campaign.
The Fatorda unit of the party led by former MLA Damu Naik visited the Old Age home at Margao and distributed sweets to the inmates. The delegation spent a good time with the inmates and distributed sugar-free sweets. They also celebrated Christmas with the inmates by belting a couple of Christmas carols.
In Panjim, the party marked ‘Good Governance Day’ by cleaning streets and distributing fruits to the needy. North Goa MP Shripad Naik and Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar took part in the cleanliness drive. Naik also visited Military hospital, Hamara School, TB Hospital and Provedoria’s Chimbel old age home and distributed sweets.
