PANJIM: Referring to Sidharth Kuncalienker’s manifesto for the Panjim by-polls, Congress claimed that they stand vindicated that late Manohar Parrikar has failed the capital city.
Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) general secretary Amarnath Panjikar said that the manifesto is a new means to fool the people of Panjim. “Sidharth has released a manifesto with rhetoric and same promises over the last several years. This is the third manifesto in two years and the same promises except for one. This time they forgot to mention about the casinos”, he stated.
Demanding responses on the achievement, Amarnath asked how many youth were given employment and how their lives changed. He further said that water problems have not been resolved with lack of water supply, same is the case of electricity as well as garbage.
“You have been claiming that these problems have been resolved then why they are being promised again this time too. BJP has completely failed to solve the problems of Panjim”, he added.
Pointing at the casinos in the River Mandovi, Amarnath said “Parrikar had led a protest against the casinos and had stated ‘hum andar ghusenge’ (we will enter inside). Our question is have the casino owners entered your offices and therefore you are silent on the issue.”
Condemning the manifesto, Amarnath said that the Sidharth’s manifesto is a vinash patra (destruction document) and not vikas patra (development document).
