BJP names panel for all wards in Margao

Unlike the Congress which kept it simple and announced an 11 member panel for the wards in Margao, the BJP decided to make its influence felt all over the town and its surrounding areas nominating a candidate in every ward, including Fatorda and Curtorim

The names of the Candidates of the BJP and Congress attached Panels are out right on the face of the deadline of candidature filling. Unlike the Congress, the BJP’s Margao Development Front what they name their panel has expanded its brief all over Margao, Fatorda as well as in the 3 wards of Curtorim apart from ward number 1 making it the only political entity to do so. Digambar Kamat has, meanwhile kept it simple and made a panel of 11 candidates for Margao. However, Vijai’s Fatorda Forward has remained backward in the race for the announcement of names.
After several rounds of hectic meetings and deliberations, the BJP has finally spoken. It has decided to extend its support to other candidates in ward 1 and is all set to field candidates in other wards in the name of Margao Development Front. Priya Mahesh Kamat in ward 2, Pushpa Vasudev Virdikar in ward 3, Milagres Barretto in ward 4, Sujay Lotliker in ward 5, Vavita Raikar in ward 6, Gregorio Dias in ward 7, Durgadas Prabhu in ward 8, Narmada Videsh Kundaikar in ward 9, Laurel Abranches in ward 10, Raju Naik in ward 11, Ranjita Pai in ward 12, Ketan Kurtarkar in ward 13, Damodar Shirodkar in ward 14, Geeta Uday Dessai in ward 15, Adhik Usgaonkar in ward 16, Rupesh Mahatme in ward 17, Kanchan Kavlekar in ward 18, Surendra Haldankar in ward 19, Rajendra Satarkar in ward 20, Devbala Dattaram Bhise in ward 21, Kaustubh Kanekar in ward 22, Sugandha Bandekar in ward 23, Raju Shirodkar (Hadlee) in ward 24 and Nagraj Naik in ward 25. The BJP Goa official spokesperson revealed the names on Tuesday evening. Damu Naik, MP Narendra Sawaikar and several other party men from Margao have been holding several meetings in the town for more than 2 weeks. The panel will file nominations on October 8.
Meanwhile, it has been learnt from reliable BJP sources that there has been clamour and in fighting over 2 of the seats in Comba that the heat reached the Defence Minister who later had to intervene and get it solved. The list however, looks to be favouring the Sharmad Raiturkar camp undermining other power centres of Margao.
