BJP pooh-poohs RaGa’s promise on corruption

PANJIM: A day after Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi announced to act against corruption in two minutes, the State BJP unit hit back stating that the announcement is “unrealistic” and a poor joke.

Addressing the media, BJP Spokesperson Damodar Naik, terming Gandhi’s speech as joke of the day, stated that he spoke without proper knowledge. “Punishing someone corrupt in two minutes is not realistic. There is a law to be followed. What he is talking is like dictatorship, you just cannot shoot someone if you find that person doing something wrong,” Naik said.
Asked whether the BJP government has failed to punish the corrupt as promised in the elections, Naik said, “Justice has to be proper and because of that there is a delay. Those who are involved in corruption will be put behind the bars.”
He added, “Once all procedures and investigations are completed everyone involved in corruption will go to jail,” he said.
He added that Congress has lost its roots in Goa and the padyatra will not boost the morale of its leaders.
Commenting on the removal of the Dhavalikar brothers from the ministry, Naik said that Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar took the right decision. He, however, accepted that demonetisation has caused hardships but said that its going to benefit the common man and in the coming ten days the situation will be ‘perfect’.
