BJP privilege notice against Rahul

NEW DELHI: The Bhartiya Janata Party MPs on Thursday gave a notice of privilege in the Rajya Sabha against Congress President Rahul Gandhi on disfiguring name of House leader and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley as “Mr Jaitlie” on his Twitter handle on Wednesday.
Rahul had tweeted on Jaitley’s rapprochement move in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday that ended last week’s deadlock in the House over Prime Minister Modi’s Pakistani innuendo against Dr Manmohan Singh during Gujarat campaign.
“Dear Mr Jaitlie – thank you for reminding India that our PM never means what he says or says what he means. #BJPLies,” said Rahul in his tweet.
BJP general secretary Bhupinder Yadav, MP from Rajasthan and a righthand man of BJP President Amit Shah, raised the privilege issue in the House, with loud protests from the Congress benches. He claimed Rahul has “insulted” Jaitley by distorting his name to cast aspersion of speaking a lie.
Rajya Sabha chairman M Venkaiah Naidu handled the pandemonium, with a sort of reprimand to Yadav for mentioning name of Rahul. Reminding the House that a member should not take name of one who is not a member of the House and hence can not defend himself, he expunged reference to Rahul. “Name not going in record.”
