PANJIM: BJP rebels and wife of Deputy Chief Minister Chandrakant Kavlekar, Savitri and former Canacona MLA Isidore Fernandes were among the 38 candidates who filed their nominations on Tuesday.
In all, 56 candidates have filed nominations since January 21. No nominations will be accepted on Wednesday being Republic Day, public holiday.
As per the information provided by the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), so far 19 candidates have filed nominations on BJP ticket, while MGP’s six candidates have submitted their nomination papers. Similarly, 12 Independent and five Congress nominees have also submitted their documents before the concern returning officers.
Aam Aadmi Party’s seven candidates, Trinamool Congress’ two, NCP’s one and four of Revolutionary Goans have also filed their nominations in the last three days.
On Tuesday, those who filed nominations included rebellion Savitri Kavlekar from Sanguem and Isidore Fernandes from Canacona as Independents. They were denied ticket by the BJP.
The BJP candidates include Dayanand Sopte (Mandrem), Dayanand Mandrekar (Siolim), Glen Ticlo (Aldona), Premanand Shet (Mayem), Priya Shet (Mayem), Datta Borkar and Nisha Borkar (BJP), Clafasio Dias (Cuncolim), Chandrakant Kavlekar (Quepem), Ganesh Gaonkar (Sanvordem) and Subhash Phal Dessai (Sanguem).
The AAP candidates are Pundalik Dhargalkar (Pernem), Rahul Mhambre (Mapusa), Nonu Naik (Priol), Prashant Naik (Cuncolim), Joao Estibriao (Cuncolim-substitute), Pratima Coutinho and Macklis Pereira (Navelim).
Congress’ Rudolf Fernandes (St Cruz), Avertano Furtado (Navelim) and Rajesh Vernekar (Ponda) have filed their nominations.
MGP’s Vishvesh Prabhu (Priol) and Sanket Mule (Shiroda), TMC’s Kavita Kandolkar (Tivim) and Mahesh Amonkar (Margao) and NCP’s Digvijai Velingkar (Priol) have submitted their nomination papers.
The Independent candidates are Kamlakar Gadkar (Pernem), Neeta Khanvilkar (Mapusa), Mahesh Parab (Sanquelim) and Kanaya Pagi (Canacona).
The Revolutionary Goans have their candidates Sunil Gaonkar (Sanguem), Vishal Desai (Quepem), Wilson Cardoz (Cuncolim) and Ajay Kholkar (St Cruz) filing nominations.
The last date for nomination filing is January 28. The scrutiny will take place on January 29 and withdrawal of nominations, if any, will be held on January 31.
The polls across 40 Assembly seats are scheduled on February 14.
