CANACONA: The Canacona Police on Thursday arrested one Pratik Naik, the son of a prominent Canacona BJP representative Mahesh Naik on charges of outraging the modesty of a girl.
Pratik has been booked under Sections 509, 324, 354, 365, 354 (D), and 506 (II) which amount to outraging the modesty, causing hurt by dangerous weapons, assault, abduction, stalking, and criminal intimidation.
The accused was produced before the Canacona JMFC and was remanded to two days police custody.
Suspected to be case of failed relationship at a young age, the girl alleged that she was assaulted by the accused and received stitches after sustaining grievous head injuries.
The parents of the accused pleaded with the police not to register the case as they claimed that their son was innocent. However, a case was registered and the accused was arrested on Thursday afternoon.
