PANJIM: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday ridiculed the Congress charge sheet on the government’s performance of the last four and a half years.
Addressing the media, party spokesperson Kiran Kandolkar said, “The people of Goa have given the party a mandate and it is they who will evaluate the government’s performance.”
“In 2012, the people of Goa had issued a charge sheet against Congress and shown the party the door. Now they are trying to come out with a charge sheet against us, which is a joke,” Kandolkar said.
He stated the party would get maximum marks from the electorate. “The BJP has done a tremendous job and fulfilled almost 90 per cent of its promises and the remaining 10 per cent will be completed in the next three months,” he said referring to the Regional Plan, which he says is in the process of notification.
Kandolkar questioned whether the Congress MLAs approved the charge sheet. “Out of eight MLAs only two were present which shows the strength of the party,” he said.
Asked who the BJP considers as its main opponents in the next elections, he shot back saying, “None as of now. There are several parties that have cropped up – AAP, Congress, Goa Forward etc. Right now the BJP is far ahead, but as the election comes closer we can’t say. But if elections are held today we will win hands down,” he said.
