PANJIM: BJP state executive on Monday accused Congress-led UPA government of being biased against the BJP-ruled Goa and condemned ‘step-motherly’ treatment meted out to them in form of non approval of Rs 3000 crore financial package for rehabilitation of mining dependent people.
“The UPA government, which has been biased against the State of Goa, sanctioned a meager assistance of Rs 75 crore only,” the resolution, moved by BJP vice president Nilesh Cabral reads.
Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar had led a government delegation that met the Prime Minister, earlier last month, demanding special status for Goa and a financial package worth Rs 3,000 crore for those affected due to the ban on the mining industry. The demand was also discussed with the Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram.
The State executive also resolved that the BJP is confident of winning both the parliamentary seats during the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. The meeting resolved, “The people of this country, including Goa, are looking for NDA government at the Centre.”
“There is a protracted paralysis at the Centre, leaving the UPA government perplexed as to how to tackle the issues such as inequality, social justice, distribution of natural resources, inflation, poverty and above all massive corruption, which has led to the collapse of UPA government,” the resolution added.
The meeting also condemned Bodh Gaya terror attack claiming that it was a result of bickering between country’s investigative organisations. BJP also appealed to the Union government to keep aside its political agenda in favour of security of the citizens of India.
“This frequent terrorist attacks on innocent lives is a result of bickering taking place between prime security organisations of our country like CBI, NIA and IB instigated by an irresponsible Union government,” the resolution reads.
