Breakdown of law and order, corruption, price rise, injustice done to Scheduled Tribes, illegal mining will top the BJP’s agenda for the five-day winter session of the Goa Assembly that begins on January 31.
Addressing a press conference after the monthly meeting of the BJP legislative wing on Friday here Opposition Leader, Manohar Parrikar said they will take on the government very strongly, especially, on breakdown of law and order in the State and maligning image of Goa Police due to police-drug dealer nexus.
“Moral degradation” of Goa Police will be highlighted, said Parrikar while referring to various cases in which Police have been seen in poor light.
Parrikar also came down heavily on Crime Branch DySP Chandrakant Salgaocar, who he alleged has not cracked a single case since he has been promoted.
“For what contribution the government recommended DySP Chandrakant Salgaocar‘s name for President’s medal?,” questioned Parrikar referring to the failure of Crime Branch in handling police-drug dealers nexus and their moral degradation, he said, Home Minister Ravi Naik alone is not responsible for the mess but the whole cabinet of Kamat government.
Lok Ayukta Bill: This session, he said, Opposition will also press for Lok Ayukta Bill which the government has apparently pushed to the back burners.
“We do not want Vigilance Department, we want Lok Ayukta,” reiterated Parrikar.
On the price rise, especially that of onion, Parrikar alleged that the department of Civil Supplies is hand in glove with the onion traders who are hoarding onions.
Injustice to ST community: The Opposition will also take on the government for neglecting demands of the ST community, he said.
“In total, we have fielded about 800 questions,” he said adding “however they are not sufficient to cover all wrong doings of the government.
At least, 4000-5000 questions need to be fielded, to know everything, however, the session is too short to ask that many number of questions, he added.
