Vasco: Former Speaker of Goa Legislative assembly, Rajendra Arlekar informed that he has already started his campaigning trail for BJP’s both South Goa as well as North Goa Lok Sabha candidates.
“BJP should take supporters and senior members into confidence before inducting new politicians into the party,” said Arlekar, while addressing the media in Vasco.
Arlekar felt it was not necessary to induct some major political leaders from other parties into BJP. “Before taking any such decisions senior party leaders need to be taken into consideration as the local supporters also need to be convinced by the decision,” added Arlekar.
He however added that he is actively campaigning in Pernem taluka and Vasco area also. Considering the strained relation between the present Pernem MLA and now BJP member Manohar Ajgaonkar and himself, Arlekar said that he is loyal to the party and that he is working for the victory of BJP.
He however, added that he has always told his supporters not to support an individual but the BJP party. “Our goal should be to elect both the South Goa and North Goa candidates for this LS election,” he added.
When asked his opinion about senior party leaders in BJP circle being sidelined by the newcomers, Arlekar said that such political atmosphere is not good. “I have spoken to the party leaders and mentioned that such practices need to be stopped within party, as BJP is a party with the difference,” added Arlekar.
