I can only appeal to the Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar to accept the migrants which contributes to the development of the State and in return give back what these people deserve from the government, said the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president, Dr G Parmeshwar. He was speaking on the sidelines of Cortalim block Congress committee workers meeting held at Zuari Nagar on Sunday evening.
“I am here in the State for two purposes – firstly to strengthen Congress party in the State and secondly to support Kannadigas who have been treated very badly by the present BJP government. The only solution to this issue is to bring back Congress government in Goa
which will promise that the poor people in the State would be given free electricity,” Parmeshwar told
Almost all the leaders in their speech recalled the promise made by late Matanhy Saldanha to the people of Zuari Nagar slums with his special manifesto and later lambasted the State BJP government making them responsible for the condition under which these residents are living in the area without development, they charged.
“From number one State in the country, Goa has become the last and the credit goes to the State BJP. Similarly whatever BJP promised with its manifesto to grab power is doing the opposite and as a result the poor and common citizens are upset and are now realising the mistake they did in the last election.
With regards to migrant’s population, BJP promised them rehabilitation, housing schemes, good living atmosphere with proper sanitation and health care facilities but all that was election doles and Zuari Nagar slums is one of the example which is victim of BJP’s false promises but Congress will not allow this to happen and we are in agitation mode,” said GPCC President Luizinho Faleiro.
