PANJIM: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has slammed the Goa Forward Party (GFP) for attempting to show that the State government has become financially bankrupt and that the Education Department had failed.

BJP spokesman Giriraj Pai Vernekar said that allegations made by the GFP at Chief Minister Pramod Sawant’s interaction with parents and primary teachers were both laughable and misguiding. If at all anyone is staring at bankruptcy, it is the GFP and its leader Vijai Sardesai, who are increasingly becoming politically bankrupt and such outbursts against a great initiative only show their frustration and desperation for being in the news.

During his interaction on Saturday, the Chief Minister urged NGOs, banks and temples to adopt schools to enhance the participation of the civil society in the education sector under the ‘Vidyanjali Scheme’. This has been welcomed by various associations of teachers and well as management committees, Pai Vernekar said.

GFP President Vijai Sardesai tweeted that the students have always been at the forefront of fights against injustice, inequality and evil regimes around the world. Goa’s students mustn’t shy away from joining the political discourse.
