PANJIM: The BJP State unit will felicitate its national president Amit Shah and Goa CM Manohar Parrikar at a grand rally scheduled on Sunday.
“We will felicitate Shah for securing power in four of five states that went to the polls. We are also felicitating the CM as he gave up an important portfolio of Defence to return to Goa,” State BJP General Secretary Sadanand Tanawde told media persons on Tuesday.
The party expects around 25,000 people, besides coalition partners, BJP MLAs and ex-MLAs, party workers and office-bearers to gather at Campal on Sunday evening.
The felicitation comes at a time when the party is examining its unsatisfactory performance at the recently held elections, even though it was able to form the government in the State.
Asked whether the party was introspecting as to why it fared badly at the polls, State unit President Vinay Tendulkar said they have already held internal discussions to ensure the situation is not repeated. “We held internal discussions on and how to rectify it. We are strengthening our organisation at every level,” he said. The party has around 4.30 lakh enrolled members.
