BJP to fight elections alone: State Chief

PANJIM: BJP Goa has decided to contest the upcoming State Assembly elections alone as the party has intensified its pre-poll campaign in the State.

“In the present circumstances, we will contest without an alliance, and with the support of the people and our karyakartas,” BJP Goa president Sadanand Tanavade said on Monday. He was replying to a media question while addressing the media.

BJP Goa has decided to visit constituencies starting Tuesday wherein various day-long meetings and interactions with party workers and the people in general are scheduled. The agenda that concludes on September 3 will cover around 22 constituencies and resume after the Ganesh Chaturthi festival.  

Tanavade said that Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant will visit 10 constituencies – Saligao, Savordem, Sanguem, Mandrem, Mayem, Bicholim, Siolim, Fatorda and Shiroda. Similarly, the party president will visit Sankhali, Quepem, Aldona, Cuncolim, Thivim, Curchorem, Dabolim, Pernem, St Cruz, Cumbarjua, Mormugao and Vasco. 

“It will either be a half-day or full day meeting at each constituency. Our party karyakartas will do the planning. Our aim is to complete all 40 constituencies by October 31, 2021,” Tanavade said. 

BJP national general secretary and Goa in-charge C T Ravi will visit arrive in Goa on a two-day visit on August 17 and will also visit some of the constituencies, Tanavade said.
